I've seen many tutorials of how to change the colour of objects (and in particular cars) involving overlaying the colour then using the lasso tool to cut out the features. If you aren't precise with the lasso tool just zooming in will reveal there has been a colour change. I'm goint to try and show you a much easier method!
Step 1 >>
Open a fairly simple picture of the car you want to change the colour of, i've gone for a nice 360 Challenge Stradale.
N.B A simple background also helps!
Step 2 >>
Go to Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation or press CTRL+U
A window appears, in the 'Edit:' dropdown choose the colour of the car, in my case red.
Now use the slider to change the Hue and therefore change the colour.
Use the Saturation slider to choose the 'depth' of the colour if you like and finally change the Lightness slider, you guessed it, change the lightness/darkness of the car.
And there you go the car's colour is changed!
You could now take this to a new level and use a more complicated image. This means you will probably have to choose more than one from the dropdown menu.
Another idea would be to create a 'Pop Art' effect by altering all the colours to loud, bright, 'in your face' colours!
I hope this gives you all some inspiration! And of course you don't have to stop at cars, experiment! :smile2:
