How to Find and use Related Keywords in an Article?

Hello guys,
I want to know how to find and use the related keywords while writing an article around a targeted keyword/topic?

What should be the ratio of the related keywords to avoid spamming factor in the article.

I don't know if this will help as I am no SEO expert. I can only tell you what I am told when I get an assignment, and the rules I use when writing my own articles.
I am told never over 3% for any keyword or word, otherwise Google may consider it spam. So when I am done writing I run the article through to make sure that no keyword goes over the 3%.

Its contents should be fully SEO optimized and LSI checked with 3-4 % keyword Density.
