Thread: Rewriting articles

    Default Rewriting articles

I have seen that many people are doing rewriting articles to publish on their site. Is it not a violation of the copyrights? Its just like stealing hard work of the person.

Yes it is just like that. It's called creating a derivative work and usually turns out to be substandard anyway because when they're trying to rewrite something it never flows the way an original work would.

Sure it is ! You have no rights to use copyrighted material. However, if you do it well - no one will even catch you ( I mean, quality rewriting by leaving only some basic ideas ).

It is not a good method to follow. Whether it is illegal or not, I am not sure, as there is not any unique ideas left in the world anyway, so everybody is copying something from somebosy else

Well, the problem with employing someone that simply rewrites all the time is they're the ones that don't have an original idea in their head when it comes to having to do something unique.

If there weren't any original ideas left, there would be no inventions, would there... I don't copy from anybody and in fact think rewriting would be brain numbingly boring. I think you can tell when someone's heart's not been in a piece they write or it's been derived from someone else's words.

Well not only that there are a lot people posting re-written articles, but there are also guys in forums who are paying to other guys to re-write articles - worth them much less then a uniq article
P.S. There will be new things to be invented in this world

Sure there are and there always will be. Just because people do it doesn't make it right. But those kinds of webmasters don't care what their content is like. I write articles freelance and can spot shoddy rewrites a mile away. It amazes me that for the sake of a few dollars someone would be willing to put rewrites on their site instead of original work but then I guess they don't take the same pride in their websites that I do in mine nor do the rewriters care. Why risk being caught doing it or touting for others to do it for you? It'd be a lot more expensive if you are, I can assure you.

But as long as people are willing to do it, there will be work out there for rewriters. But I can sleep soundly at night. I'm not the one running the risk of being sued for copyright infringement by creating a derivative work.

You can't publish it without permission or citing the source, but that's about it.

Your end product can only have a certain percentage of the exact same material, but I can't remember what that percent is because I always write my own content.

Articles are protected by intellectual copyright. Plagiarism is relatively easy to detect. Why would you want to rewrite an article? Do your own research and write your own unique original content.

Actually if you're talking about "fair use" under US law, there isn't a percentage set in stone funnily enough. I'd always assumed there was but then looked into it more while researching my article on a copyright violation case. Believe it or not it was over a baby's YouTube video containing a Prince song. I was really surprised to find the number isn't defined.
