    Talking Resolution problem

I think you should try to update your drivers and check if they are installed properly or are uninstalled.or you may be trying to set resolution that may be too high for your pc.

agree with sahil, look out for updated display drivers.
try Driver max for this.. they are the best!

you should keep your hardwares and softwares updated to the latest version, or if you have your windows xp software then you should repair the software, for that you need CD of windows xp, if you do not have it, then do what shail5554 told you.

first of all check up till what frequency your monitor can work?

Then check your drivers installed properly,if you are using old drivers then update it.

If you are having old cabinet pc then 1024x768 pixels resolution would be best, don't go higher than that.

No one asked if he couldn't change it because of the drivers or if he didn't know where to change it. You guys could be overthinking this.

Amar, if you don't know where to change it, go to your desktop, right click then go to Properties>Settings and move the slider to whatever resolution you need.
