Default Microsoft launching free antivirus service soon

You can expect to see the beta version of Morro in the near future.

Specifically, Morro will offer basic antivirus, antispyware and antimalware functions, which analysts estimate will likely be on par with many of the low-end consumer and small-business antivirus products already offered by major security vendors such as Symantec and McAfee.

    I know this,
Microsoft Anti-Virus (MSAV) was an antivirus program introduced by Microsoft for its MS-DOS operating system. The program first appeared in MS-DOS version 6.0 and last appeared in version 6.22. The first version of the antivirus program was quite rudimentary, had no update facility (though a single update became available), and could only scan for about 1,000 viruses. Microsoft Anti-Virus for Windows (MWAV), included as part of the package, could be run under Windows 3.x.
    You told something new.......

Yes, I know it's new. Morro's now available and has been called Security Essentials. Here's some screenshots of what it looks like.

They said free, so I think we can take them at their word that it will be unless we hear different.
