It's very important that you use a catchy domain name for your website. It helps people remember it, it helps people to find it and it helps people to remember you. A bad domain name will make your website hard to find, in the end people will either try search engines to find you or they'll just give up.

There's a quick and easy way to create a domain name in only five minutes. But first, there are three things you need to remember.

Your domain name should be easy to remember. I'm one of those guys that hardly ever use bookmarks, I visit the website's I like by remembering the domains and by typing the domain names. I believe that if people remember the domain (and the website), they'll visit it.

Your domain name should be related to your content. If you have a main keyword for your website, that's the place you should start when you are going to pick a domain name. Try to turn your keyword(s) into a domain name. For instance, when I was going to pick a domain name for my ebook about all the top marketing strategies, I picked the name TrafficRoots. The ebook is about the origins of all traffic, and I believe that's what comes to mind when you hear the name TrafficRoots. If I had picked a domain name that wasn't related to my content, people would probably not remember it.

Your domain name should also be easy to type. As I said earlier on, I always type the URL's I'm going to visit (I hardly ever use bookmarks). Some letters are harder than other letters to type, like q and p. You should try to avoid them, and you should also try to avoid difficult combination of words.

There are also three things to avoid when you pick a domain name:

You should never use misspellings in your domain name, even though it's a misspelling of a really popular domain name or a really popular word. People won't remember it, even though you might get a few extra visitors because of the misspelled word (some people are always misspelling words, but they won't remember the misspelling).

You should never include numbers in your domain name. It's a lot harder to remember numbers than words and it's hard to tell people (word of mouth) what your domain name is. If you say that your domain name is 911marketing.com, people might think it's nineoneonemarketing.com or nine11marketing.com or nine1onemarketing.com (or any other combination).

If you pick a name that's too close to a popular website, people will most likely end up visiting the popular website instead of yours. All you'll get is traffic from the people that are misspelling the domain name, but that's all you'll get.

Now, the easiest way to find a great domain name (in five minutes or less) is the following steps:

Just keep it related to your content (using your main keywords), make it easy to remember and easy to spell, and when you're stuck try to use a thesaurus and find some great synonyms for the best keywords and use the synonyms in your domain name.
