Using Social Networking Sites to Qualify Your Prospects

You see, the reason people respond with "just looking" is because as a society we have been convinced that we are going to be sold something. And at some point we have convinced ourselves that this is "bad", or that we "hate to be sold", or that all salesmen are pushy.
It's simply not entirely true. Sure there are pushy sales people out there, and there are times when being sold is bad, or times when we buy things we don't need. That is our problem, not the sales person's. They are just doing their jobs.
But what if their job was not to sell you anything. But to merely inform you of things. Would you let them help you if you knew that simply had nothing to sell you? Well, Social networking is a silent sales person that has nothing to sell and people just like you are putting it to use every day.
Social networking sites appeal to those people who are just looking, and in most cases are looking for information. They want to be able to read content, check out sites, bookmarks and reviews without having to track down your website across the entire internet. If you have done a search, then you know it can be a terrible experience to locate exactly what you need online.
But social media sites allow you to place content to their sites and allows the users to determine its value. The more valuable your content is, the more popular it is likely to become. If the content is pushy, spammy or otherwise unimportant, then the users will know it and it will never get the views you want to get.
It has the added benefit of actually qualifying potential readers as potential buyers. Just like people walking by the store window, those people who "come in" to the store have a greater potential to buy something then those who are window shopping.
This works the same way with your social networked content. People reading it might just be looking, but then you will get those who click through to your websites. These people become much more highly qualified potential customers. They have made it to your store. They know that they will likely see something for sale at that point. The point is that they liked your content, liked what you had to offer and took the next step in the process. Now it is up to you to treat them well and offer them even more.
