Narrow Your Market, But Don't Limit It

Getting to the core of your target market is essential because you need to be able to make your marketing materials specific to those individuals. However, you also want to make sure you don't limit your market too much. With any online business you have an opportunity to reach out to people all over the world.
With that being said, you don't want to make your information too specific to include all of them. The best way to make it work for you is to focus on the emotional response from those in your target market. Those responses are going to have a common element to them regardless of what area the person is from.
The good news about this type of marketing is that you can continue to have a successful business even with a rough economy out there. This is because you are reaching out to people from all economic areas. There will be enough of them that are doing well enough to justify a purchase from you.
Depending on what you offer, the poor economy can work in your favor as well. For example if you offer something that can help a person learn how to make more money then you're probably going to spark some interest. When the economy is sluggish, there are still many opportunities out there. Whether it's stocks, real estate, or making a new product. Everyone that is feeling the pinch when it comes to their current income will see the benefit of more coming in.
