It is common for people to change their email address with so many free providers out there. They may at the very least add a new account. This can make it difficult though for you to reach them. The number of people you can reach on your list though is what counts, not how many total names and emails you have on it.

You want to weed people out from your opt in list when their messages continue to bounce back. The rule should be that the second time you get an email back from the same address it is eliminated. Perhaps that individual will subscribe again later on with their new email, so make sure you have something enticing to offer them.

Of course by law you have to comply with removing people that choose to unsubscribe. While you do have 30 days to do this from the time they contact you, do it as soon as you can. That way they don't become annoyed or upset and leave nasty remarks about your business on the internet.

It does take time to keep your opt in list in good shape. You will find it is much easier if you are collecting the names and email addresses on your own. When you buy lists you will end up doing more cleaning up. There are going to be more bounce backs too because that information can be very old. So take the time to make sure that your lists are as current as possible.
