if you want to increase your website traffic, you should go to some related forums and post links with signatures linking back to your site. That is better than any affiliates, I think.

I do both affiliate marketing and MLM. I use LeadsFlood.com for guaranteed sign ups (MLM only) but if you have a MLM program that is a paid program then you will need to put a squeeze page with a free lead magnet in front of your MLM sign up page.

I stay well away from MLM. The basics just do not add up to a sensible business plan in my opinion. Affiliate marketing though is a solid business plan where you know where the money os coming from and why you are getting the money.

So back to your question. If you are trying to get traffic so you can promote a product as an affiliate, I'd suggest focusing on SEO and social networking. A little forum participation helps as well. I personally do not spend nearly as much time in the forums as I should [Busy with content creation and article marketing] but I hear forum participation can get you some traffic if done right.

Article marketing which I touched on is my preferred mode of marketing. Yes, it's effort intensive but it works well, very well
