Seasonal selling strategy for affiliate marketer

Do you agree that seasonal selling strategy is good for affiliate marketer.
What i mean by seasonal selling strategy in affiliate marketing?

So, we make a website for selling our affiliate product (from amazon, SFI, or etc...) which choosen based on seasonal/ "what is in trend"

So, if we are on rainy season, we sell product which related to rain/usefull to be used in rain just like :
rain coat or umbrella

We can also sell product which in booming. For example, now, movie "Slumdog Millionaire" is booming, so we can sell merchandise of slumdog millionaire.

Do you think this strategy is effective or not too bring good result?

It may be effective but it may be costly to maintain, isn't it? The trends can be fleeting. I think you can do that but still have a main niche product to sell.

Its effective actually but such marketing strategy requires strict maintenance and strong management of site. If ever you would do something like this, make sure you'll be able to do it properly or chances of gaining profits would likely lessen.

It is an effective strategy and I use Google Trends to determine what is hot and then Google Insight to determine if the product will sell but it is a high maintenance program. Seasonal marketing is also providing products for the holidays like Valentines Day, etc. There are easier ways to make money so bear this in mind.

Be sure to point out that the product that you're selling can make your customers life a lot easier and also enjoyable. Give your products strong points and if there are any, their weaknesses, being honest can help you in the end. Avoid saying the word "free" when marketing to a client; you might be mistaken as a fraud by some customer. Lay out your product goodies and convince your customer that they'd miss a lot if they don't avail of your wares.
